Summer scholarship and internship opportunities at
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory

1. STARS (Science Technology & Research Scholars) STEM Program for Minority Students

STARS is a two-week summer research experience designed to support the next generation of minority scientists, doctors, and other health professionals. This program provides students with state-of-the-art laboratory and computer science skills needed to succeed in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) in college and beyond.

Note: There are only a few seats remaining. We will accept applications beyond the suggested April 16th due date until the class is full. Tuition is waived for accepted students and transportation support available.

2. Jorge Pérez de Acha Memorial Summer Camp Scholarship 2021

This scholarship is offered to one student of Hispanic/Latin-American background and covers the cost of tuition ($650) for our BioCoding Summer Camp.

3. Ellen Brenner Memorial Internship

This paid summer internship is offered to one high school student who has completed 10th, 11th, or 12th grade to gain experience working in a science library and world-renowned archives. We invite applications from any interested student, but preference will be given to applications by students who belong to group(s) underrepresented in U.S. science.

Hofstra GEOTeams Program

Application forms are attached at the bottom of the webpage.  Deadline is Friday, April 30, 2021. Students who are accepted to the program will be assigned to teams and do geoscience research with professors in our GES department, between July 6, 2021 and Aug  13, 2021 (approximately- exact schedules will depend on each team’s availability) this summer. There will be a culminating poster session in the fall. Students who complete the program will receive a nice stipend, and the program is tuition free.
