Our Alternative Twilight Programs
UAHS (Uniondale Alternative High School) This pathway affords students an opportunity to obtain their high school diploma by completing all necessary credits as determined by NY state. UAHS operates Monday through Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
LYFT ( Lifting Youth to Find Themselves) This is our credit recovery program. This pathway allows our youth a possibility to recover credits and take courses that would not fit in their daytime schedule. These classes are offered from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M, Monday - Thursday.
HSE/GED (High School Equivalency Program) This pathway offers opportunities for completion of secondary education for students who would not normally find success in a traditional academic setting. Upon completion of HSE, our students receive an equivalency diploma. This program is taught in both English and Spanish and offered from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. for students who are 21 years of age or under.
Suspension Program (Grades 7-12) This program is offered to students who have been assigned to out of school suspension ranging from 1 to 5 days as well as longer term suspension and accordance with New York State laws. Here, they are able to complete their daytime assignments and receive one to one assistance in their subject areas. Students are required to receive social and emotional support, as well as any additional support required for them to be restored to their school building. Re-entry and classroom integrations are done in an effective and efficient manner. This program runs from 3:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
